I Cannot Dream For You

the prodigal fescoI Cannot Dream For You

Without weeping
While I do,
I do love you
My body wracked by pain
Releases heaves and sighs of grieving
Distributes tears instead of blood
Pushing pulsating  crimson through my veins
Salt soaked
Sacks of weeping
Burst open as they hit the
Hard wood floor
Boards by board you’ve laid your life
Down
In a pattern
Of your own design, it seems
But
Nail by nail
I
Gaze skyward
Searching for the rough-hewn cross

I cannot dream of you without weeping
I see you
Through the eyes of Christ
Who plans for wholeness
Restoration
Desires for healing in every life

So I will dream that joy shall visit
Come in the morning, return to you
Fill  you  up with songs of singing
That you will be  made whole and new
And I will hope you into wellness
Formed from molded clay by Christ

That you would dream of new beginnings
And see the world as it sees you
Born to this world with songs of gladness
Wrapped , loved and swaddled from your birth

And I  will dream until my life ends
That all that’s noble, right and good
Godly,Holy, true and pure
Will come by way of
And  then rest with you
That dreams of joy and new beginnings
We be your dreams and not just mine
For  worlds you’ve never lived to open
And take you mercifully  into glory days

Yes I will dream like Sarah
Release all trembling and human fear
Put it down
Shout out a deafening chorus
Of loud, yet
Broken hallelujah’s
For Always
ad infinitum
precious one, you child of God

Today will end your days of  weeping
Today begins anew
For I will dream always of you.

Heaven’s Rock, And Roll

rain hammock chainEvery window
Wet with tears
Weeping
Won’t stop
The rain
Running down the cheeks

Of window
Pane
Every single
Sash and dash
Rim and Ledge
Wears a rain stained
Dripping
Heavy countenance
Tinged with melancholy
Rolling down the tracks of rain
Dropping rain
Drops like rocks
On top of every rooftop

The sappy sentiment
Soaks the shell of man

But oh
The hope that lies within
Even while
The heavens crack
The rumble rolls
Like stampeding wild horses
Cross
The sky, heavy hooves
Sound the charge
The storms arrive

Her tear-soaked faith
Will not swim in pools
Of pain
But rather

She will choose

To walk in
Fields of grace
Swim
In oceans too
Stroke by stroke,
Listening to Van Morrison’s
Songs that drown
The pain

Torrential sheets of water flood
Breaking forth
Released onto
Faithful
Man below without an arc
Onto
Every crown of head
And top of roof

Hope
Born from every ounce of  grace

She
Simply turns the music up
A notch, reaches for the highest decibals
Blaring triumphant brass and strings
And steel guitar with rocking beats
A chorus of foreshadowing
Of

joy that sees
Beyond
Wet casements
Windows will reflect
Again
The countenance of praise
And wipe the running raindrops
Racing down,
Smearing foggy glass will
Glisten, cleaned
With rags of vinegar
To cleanse a soaked and soggy
Soul

Of  man

By the very  hand of
The Man of Hope
The Son of God

The Washer  of
The dirt and pain
Rolling every rock and stone
Away revealing
Triumphant
Melody of Joy

That rocks and rolls us
Whole and healed
Dried by cloths of healing grace

Yet
Once again
Amazing Grace
How sweet the sound
You’re heaven’s
Rock and roll
And lullaby

Bye and Bye
Sweet bye and bye

The Healing – Letters From The Village

little church

There is a place
Planted, sacred, holy
Somewhere
In the light, separated
No darkness
There at all
That quietly waits to drip the peace

Where wrinkles smooth,
Hurt heals, tears  dry
Love prevails and grace rains down
Pelting, puddling pools of amazing
Grace

And there is a place
in the middle of life
Where forgiveness is holy
Set apart, the seed of unforgiveness
Separated from the soil
Plucked from a compost, mix of blackened sin
Parched place of holding fast

Struggle, sister, not in vain
To kill the root of hurt and pride
Resist the pull to hold to hurt
Let it go and breathe the breath of hope
New and fresh
The living hope that circles round the tender
Scars

And there settles in the folds
Of human flesh
A simple healing balm
Poured out by all the
But God’s we’ve ever read
Which lead when followed to a sacred place
Though drenched by oceans
Of your grief
The drying has begun in part

And there rests a holy mystery
A rising from the ashes
Mixed with rivulets of tears
A birthing of redemption
Burst forth, life new
Nested in the arms of tender loving
Grace
The mystery of mercy
Shall be a mystery while
We see this side of glory
But through fragile human eyes
If you should ask to glimpse forgiveness
Through heaven’s lens
The mystery dims, it fades
A faith restores wholeness in the healing
Worthy of a alleluia chorus and
Man’s boldest cries of amen.

So sing a song of healing
Whisper soft
Or trumpet loud

But fold in the notes
Of sweet forgiveness
And let the
Redemption song begin.
